Last night I rocked my niece to sleep. It was one of those, warm-your-heart-all-the-way-to-the-core-permasmile moments.
I don't have a rocking chair, and she's not yet to the age where she'll just conk out on your shoulder... but the poor thing was so tired she just fussed and cried. So I threw the blanket over my shoulder and swayed back and forth with her in my entry way (it was dark and quiet) until she finally dozed off. I tried to sit on the couch after that but the lack of movement woke her up.. so there we spent the better part of an hour, gently bouncing and rocking, posted up by the front door.
It makes me so grateful that she comes over to spend Wednesday evenings with me while her parents do parently things.
I can't believe over a year ago I was sitting in the waiting room of the hospital waiting for my brother to come out and share the good news, that his baby girl made her arrival into the world!

Aw. Precious girl!
You're such a sweet auntie! I wish my sister lived a little closer and I could implement a Wednesday night tradition for Kirsten! :)
