Being a craft kinda gal, oftentimes I stumble upon things and automatically think "I could make that myself!"

This $190 sign. Don't get me wrong, it's way cute but not $190 cute. That's a cute pair of jeans. And in my opinion a cute pair of jeans is worth $190, wall art is not.

So one day a few weeks ago my dad I trekked back to the fence at the back of their property, where his secret stash of old beat-up barnwood was hidden, and found some suitable pieces.

And then my awesome mamma, because I have project ADD, cut down the boards for me on their table saw and showed up at my house earlier this week in search of her daughter and woodglue.

We glued the pieces of barnwood to a scrap of beadboard that was lying around, and professionally set it up to dry. AKA Asked HJ to drag over the pile of shingles and stack it on top of the freshly glued boards to add weight.

The next day I got home from work and whipped out my stencils (purchased at Lowe's by the way) and went to town.

Ladies and gents (are there any gents) I unveil to you my newest piece of artwork, that I am utterly, completely in love with!

I haven't decided for sure yet... but I'm thinking I'm going to hang it above my bed!

Filling up the walls

Aside from taping the entire Classifieds section of the paper to my wall Sunday, I've been doing some other decorating here and there too! It's so nice to finally get some things up on the wall and knick knacks around (that aren't just things waiting to be put away!)

I got my mirror spraypainted and hung in the bathroom, as well as painting and hanging some little accent mirrors I picked up at Goodwill for $0.49 each!

 I decided to spruce up my laundry area in the basement with a rug of Chris' that was just sitting there rolled up in the corner. (Hah see that blur of Russell in the corner? He loves to run hot laps around the basement!)

And don't ask me why the washer & dryer hookups are on completely separate walls. For that, I do not have an answer.

A few weekends ago my mom and I went to Exit 76 Antique Mall (if you're ever in the area, stop! It's huge and wonderful) and I found, among other things, these antique corner moldings for $5 a piece

 I scooped up three and they now hang on the wall between my kitchen and downstairs bathroom!

 I also hung up my masterpiece that I created at Wine and Canvas!

 It now lives over my reading chair in my living room!

 I can't forget about the adorable vintage scale I got at Exit 76 too! It's on my hoosier cabinet in the sitting room (that still hasn't had any work done since I last showed you hehe)

 Hmm what else... oh there's my chalkboard in the kitchen! Also from an antique store. (That my mom left a note on when she dropped something off at my house while I was at work!)

Oh, and lastly. Godbless this little angel who popped over to my blog to let me know that my hopes of a fluffy rug aren't lost. (Which is a good thing, because it's really starting to grow on me!)

I plan on having a little grooming sesh with my rug this evening. (Perfect timing, considering Aly bailed on me for our dinner date we had planned tonight!)

I have to head off to a housewarming bash here shortly but wanted to share with you some of my finds at the antique stores the past week.





Metal kitchen canisters. One for flour, sugar and coffee. I love love love the typography on them!





A rather large box of ball canning jars. Is it just me or does anyone else want to put EVERYTHING in glass jars?!








(I've filled one with colored pencils and another with fabric scraps)


And lastly a hot pink & fuschia tablecloth. I have had a lusting for vintage tableclothed for about a year now. Now (like many of my Have To Have It things) I need to find the perfect use for it.





I also bought a set of 3 metal/wood drafting stools but sadly they haven't gotten their photograph taken yet. Soon!

I'm off to warm a house! Hopefully some packing and sewing will happen tonight! Have a rockin Sunday -Chels

Oh how I love old stuff!

So the darling boyfriend is doing some painting tonight and I'm pretty sure that means Ill be waltzing my lil booty to the antique mall.

I always fall in love with furniture- chairs in particular. Hope to find some goodies! Now that I can blog from my phone I'll be sure to post pics later!
