Middle of July I snuck off to see my best friend in Vegas for a not-long-at-all weekend.
No, literally.
I spent a mere 50 hours total in Vegas.
I can sum up fifty hours in three words: eat. drink. gamble.

Vegas Bound: Round 3
The last time I trekked out to Vegas it was compliments of a long lost friend's generosity. And very last minute (although not QUITE as spontaneous as that one California trip...)
Back to the story at hand... quick recap. Best friend lives in Vegas. Haven't seen best friend since like August, if you discount the one dinner we grabbed in May when she was in town for her sisters graduation.
I'm flying out tomorrow to spend a quick weekend with her. It's bound to be the shortest 3 days in existence, but at least it will get us in the same state even if for a brief stint. We seem to pull in some sort of supernatural luck when we hit the roulette tables together - here's to hoping mama brings home the bacon!
I foresee a whole lotta gossiping, gambling, pool time and streetside cocktails. Viva Las Vegas, Viva Las Best Friends
(My hair was not even to my shoulders. That's how long ago it was that I was in Vegas.2011) |

Chels in Vegas - Round 2
What a weekend! The last minute vegas trip was amazing of course, so glad I agreed to it!
We had a blast tromping around the city, cocktails in hand... burning holes at the roulette table.
At some point we decided to be hiiiilarious, and check-in on facebook everywhere we went leaving all our fb's looking somethin like this.
In retrospect, it probably wasn't funny to anyone else... sorry if we're fb buds and bombarded your feed hehe. Blame it on the cocktails!
Came awfully close to Cody talking me into skydiving... but we went with the NewYork, NewYork roller coaster instead (notgonnalie.... sorta regret that now, skydiving would have been WAY cooler. And the coaster gave me bruises)
Ummmm whatelse??
Smoking volcano action, after Jenn ordered us a "Sampler Paddler" (which the waiter found hilarious) for an afternoon snack.
Pretttty sure we used the phrase "zooohmygod" too many times and people are going to start thinking we do it seriously.
That's roughly all the pictures I've got. There's a few on my camera. I can't even think straight right now ha, need sleep!
All I know is that I haven't laughed that hard consistently for an entire weekend in so long!! It was much needed!
Ummm... My face and chest and shoulders and tummy are burnt. I have sooo many emails & voicemails at work, and I'm draggin ass today so I better go pull it together. Ta ta!

Spontaneity
Looking for a little explanation to this post? You've come to the right place!
Wednesday night, after girls night got postponed, I grabbed Cracker Barrel with my parents and settled into bed around 10 that night.
Not even 2 hours later I was awoken from my biscuit&gravy induced coma to my phone vibrating. Confused and out of it, I assumed it was my 6:24am alarm, and tried to "Snooze" it. And then it started vibrating again, and I again hit "snooze".
In reality I was hanging up on my best friend, Jenn of JaggedLittleLife, who was calling me from Vegas. Then I roll over to a see the following text message:
"Cody says he will fly you to Vegas this weekend"
Uhhhhhsaywhat?!
Cody is Jenn's husband's best friend. It just so happens that everytime I was out in Salt Lake City (when Jenn & Rob lived there), Cody was also there visiting Rob (he is a Seattle-ite).
He felt it wouldn't be a proper Visit-Jenn-&-Rob vacation without my presence, and graciously volunteered to foot the bill for my flight out there (of course I've promised to pay him back with any winnings!)
After about 3 hours of "are you serious?" "I can't accept that!" texts back and forth (on my end) and a lot of "come! it will be fun!" and "ok not this weekend, how about next" on Jenn and Cody's end I told them that it was 2am and I was going to sleep on it, and would give them an answer in the morning.
So yesterday morning, I decided what the heck?! I didn't have any big plans for that weekend and I really miss Jenn, and could really use a getaway... and so I woke Cody up at 5:45am Seattle time (whoops) and told him I was game!
After my 23rd THANK YOU!!! Cody played it off, referring to it as just a "random act of kindness", to which I assured him his karma just got bumped up by 32 points.
Bright and early next Friday I'll be ploppin my butt on a (fingers crossed) window seat of a redbelly and jetting out west for 4 days of 85degree weather and good times!
Here's to hoping I win big so after repaying the kindness I can bring a little chunk of dough home too! haha
You can check out my first trip to Vegas here!
(Of course, being the awesome friend I am... we decided we should come up with a sob story and convince Jenn I wasn't coming first, hence why I couldn't blog about this yesterday! hehe She now knows the whole truth and is equally as excited. I think we've swapped 300 "I CANT WAITTTT!"s in the past 24 hours!)
