Turning of the seasons and the tunes.
Summer time is made for country music. There's no question there... but now that the mornings are chilly and the days are shorter, it just feels weird blaring some song where they're crooning about tanlines and tiki torches.
Here's what I've been jamming on lately, my Be Easy mix. Enjoy!

Tip it Back
LT and I have this thing where we get excited about non-mainstream country singers and immediately make the other listen to a song when we stumble upon it and deem it great...
Well early on in the summer his flavor of the month was some band called Florida-Georgia Line. (Hah, hilarious saying that now since they've skyrocketed on the charts lately)
Lo and behold I OBVIOUSLY fell in love with them and immediately made all my friends listen. And when we heard they were going to be playing at the Tin Roof in Indy a bunch of us scooped up the $5 tickets.
Casey and I went there immediately after work (because we're nerdy like that) and got to see the guys of FGL setting up the stage and just hanging out, we had some drinks and waited for the rest of the gang to arrive.
Easily one of the funnest concerts I've ever been to. I can't tell you how many times I've listened to their like 8 songs on repeat. I can't wait for their actual CD to come out in early December!

(of course we had to carry on the tradition of the Summer of Pabst)

It's not stalking if it's public property
Last weekend, some genius planned to have a Kenny Chesney / Tim McGraw concert a few measly hours after the ColorRun.
I hurried home from the toga madness and rushed through a shower where I scrubbed and hoped and scrubbed and prayed that all that color powder would wash off. Thankfully, it did.
After morphing from a Greek Rainbow Brite into cowgirl barbie, we headed back downtown for a little tailgating before the concert.
We fixed a few cocktails at the car bar then went to wander around, lo and behold as we near the stadium we stumble upon this sight
No big deal. Just a shirtless Tim McGraw getting a lil pre-concert workout sesh in.
[drool] But then he disappeared behind the trailer and we all pouted. Another guy with him said "oh don't worry guys, Tim's just changing... he'll be back!"
So we are standing around chitchatting when out of the corner of my eye I see a group of guys come jogging out of the gates.
No.freakin.way.
Tim and his band decided to take it to the streets. Literally. We caught it on video, got high fives, all that jazz. It took everything in me not to take off jogging next to him. Hah, who am I kidding... that's about the only way I would EVER be interested in running.
And that's when I decided I wanted to be Faith Hill when I grew up.
Once we finally gathered our composure and picked our jaws up off the sidewalk, we proceeded into the stadium.
Jake Owen rocked it barefoot, some chick who I can't remember played a meh set, Tim McGraw KILLED it and Kenny... .well I think Kenny was a blast.
After a couple limearitas that rivaled the size of my head I was dancing my booty off and singing at the top of my lungs.
I'm a tried and true Kenny fan, we go see his show nearly every year he's ever been in Indy but... phew Tim McGraw just took the cake this year. He really put on a great show.
Oh, and I'll leave you with this hot piece of manmeat to perk up your Tuesday morning!

The Walk
This is easily one of my favorite jams lately. I rock out to this at least once a day
I love how it sounds like the sweetest love song, until you actually listen to the words.
If you need some fun tunes to get you through this baby Friday, check out my Try Not To Smile playlist on Spotify. I dare you. Enjoy!

Good times never seem so good
The funny thing is, karaoke'ing was never on my bucket list. Not something I wanted to do. I don't sing in public. I haven't since the days of elementary school Christmas plays. Don't get me wrong - I let it out Carrie Underwood style in my car, alone. Key word there being alone.
Which makes it even more ironic that my best friend and I single-handedly woke up a resort full of people in the wee hours of the morning, belting out none other than the great Neil Diamond.
(cue the BOM BOM BOM)
I'm fairly certain it was our first night in Jamaica. Doing what any college kid does, we spent a majority of the evening seeking out trouble. It came in the form of a semi-deserted piano bar smack dab in the middle of the resort. We quickly hopped onto the barstools next to a middle-aged Canadian couple and giggled as they accompanied the piano player in some 70s ballad I had never even heard.
A few tune later, we had made fast friends. Casey grabbed the karaoke play list and began flipping through the pages. After excitedly pointing out every other song, we finally settled on quite possibly the most well known singalong. I think it's safe to say we did Mr. Diamond proud.
The next morning Casey & I sashayed into the dining room to grab some breakfast, passing by my parents as we made a b-line to the bacon. In the midst of our small talk, mom made a comment on how horribly they slept. I think her exact words were something along the line of "some drunk people were screaming at the piano bar til the wee hours of the morning."
It took everything in me to hold back the laughter, as I nonchalantly mentioned that it may have been us. The entire table erupted in laughter as my parents just sat there shaking their heads. I'd like to think it was the kind of headshake you give your kids when you're so proud you cant even muster up the words.
If the first night was any indicator, you can go ahead and chalk it up that our first time to Jamaica was a success! Needless to say, we made a few friends that trip.
Hey... carpe the hell out of this diem. And check that one off the bucket list while I'm at it.
