Mixer & Mingle Fridays: Gimme some lovin', Honey

I swear my parents used to slip me whiskey for more than just teething. I mean, they won't admit to it and rightfully so... I'm sure CPS has some sort of after-the-fact rule where they can still throw you in jail and take your offspring away at the age of 26 but, between you and I... I had to have been raised on it.

Sometimes you just need somethin a little bit sweeter though, and that's where Honey whiskey whisked me off my feet (see what I did there?)

When that amber liquid gets all chummy with some lemonade.... hubba hubba. I've seen a plethora of other recipes involving honey whiskey but let's be real, on most occasions when I'm mixing I like to keep it simple!

Try it, you'll like it. Promise.

(The fine print: drink responsibly, don't be dumb, not a sponsored post, my own opinion, brand names/imagery/etc is property of it's respective owner, and so on and so forth)

Mixer & Mingle Fridays: Cuke Mules

My daddy once taught me you've got to stand for something or you'll fall for anything.

Ok, so it wasn't actually my dad, it was Aaron Tippin but still. Country boys know what's up.

It was brought to my attention that I've become the biggest advocate of cucumber vodka. (Cuke for president!) I can't help it. It's like the weird ginger kid on the playground that no one wants to play with. It's like the yellow crayon of my world. So, I invited it to come mingle in my cocktails last year, and then I accidentally went and fell in love.

Originally it was Effen Cucumber Vodka + Lemonade. But then this year, Moscow Mules became the IT drink, and one local eatery slipped some cuke vodka into my copper mug and sent me into a tailspin. Heels over head doesn't even describe this drink for me.

Sadly, I place things like paying my electric bill as a higher priority than buying $20 copper mugs for my home, and my cocktail suffers (argue all you want, the mug for sure makes it taste better) but a mason jar full of Effen Cuke, ginger beer and lime makes my speakers go boom boom.

Try it. You'll like it. Everyone's doing it.

(Not a sponsored post. Just confessing my love for the common good of all society)

Really, what more is there to say?
Cinnabon flavored vodka.
I want this in every cup of coffee I drink from here on out

Mixer & Mingle Fridays: Flasks

Sometimes you need a way to get from A to B.

And I don't mean A-sober to B-schwastyface... I mean getting your Fireball from the bottle in your home to your seats at the football game. If you so choose. I hear it's frowned upon to bring your own in.... I'm not accepting any responsibility.

I think we can all agree transportation via waterbottles is a little high school-esque. Now that we're grown ups, it's time to graduate to your very own flask. You're scared, I know... don't worry, I will help.

Perhaps you've got an alternate agenda... or you're patriotic... or maybe you're THAT GIRL...

Cheers!

Mixer & Mingle Fridays : Pour some syrup on me

I'm personally an advocate for pancakes year round, so I am not completely sure why fall becomes the pinnacle of "maple syrup".

I'm not one to complain though. It seems like this is the season of syrupy sweetness. And there's a plethora of liquors to match it.
[Jim Beam Maple // Canadian Mist Maple // Knob Creek Smoked Maple]

(Not to be an advocate of mixing liquor and energy drink, but I have heard that a certain blueberry flavored popular enery drink plus these taste a whole lot like blueberry pancakes)

Have no fear, if whiskey isn't your cup of tea, it seems there's also a bourbon barrel-aged maple syrup suitable for kiddos and non-drinkers alike!

What do you think? Will you be tapping into this maple train?

Mixer & Mingle Fridays: Effen Caramel Apple

It's only been like a million years since I herded you little alkies into tongue-tantalizing oblivion.

Fear not, I'm back. And just in time for this freak cold-wave that's sweeping the midwest.

I present to you for the back & better than ever
Mixer & Mingle Fridays: Effen Caramel Apples.

It should come as no surprise to anyone I'm still mixing liquor with my beer. Everyone is already on the Fireball + Redd's bandwagon, so let's mix it up a little, eh?

I suppose you could get all fancy and use a glass, but the redneckery that goes into this is half the magic. Let's go through it step-by-step.
1) crack open a Redd's Apple Ale.
2) drink it down to the bottom of the neck.
3) pour in Effen Caramel Apple vodka.
4) cork it with your thumb and SLOWLY tip to mix. (SLOWLY. Or you will end up with a whole'lotta head)

Party on Garth.

Any given Sunday

Somehow we stumbled into another set of Colts tickets for Sunday's game. Don't get me wrong, I'm def not complaining, it's just funny to me that we gave up our season tickets and yet have gone to almost all the games this year.

LT and I were planning on going down to tailgate anyways, so when I got a 9am phone call asking if I wanted a pair I figured why the heck not!?

Tailgating was a riot. Somehow (ahhem jello shots) our lil area turned into a giant dance party.
We shuffled, slid, superman'ed and gangnam'ed our hearts out.

The game was, well... Colts might need a little more than Luck to get them through the season.

We didn't let that stop the fun though, and we carried on the fun through the ride home with a mini karaoke session. As LT and I were gasping for breath through John Michael Montgomery's "She's an eight, she's a nine she's a ten I know. Got ruby red lips, blonde hair blue eyes and I'm about to bid my heart goodBYEEEEEE" I fought off a smile. The biggest smile.

This really is some kind of beautiful life I live, and I'm so thankful for silly days like yesterday that remind me of that.

Mixer & Mingle Fridays: Broke Girl Punch

Remember that time my boyfriend got shipped off to Chicago to work this intense, big money, big boy job and I was all "woe is me. Wahh wahhh' Eeyore day in and day out. And then I started to get the hang of things and then a slim 8 days later his company called him up and said 'pack'er boys we're sendin you home.'

Go ahead, please, join me in a blank death stare.

That's right, LT is now packed up and leaving the windy city. I won't even get into how ridiculous this all is.

I will, however, tell you that it makes me need a drink.

This punch came to form a few weeks ago when I had my girlfriends over for a BGNI (Broke Girls Night In) everyone brought some food, I provided the booze, and we spent a good four hours sitting around my dining room table stuffing our faces, drinking, gossiping and ranting. GLORIOUS.

I decided the first official BGNI needed an official drink, thus
Broke Girl Punch was born.

Ingredients:
(2) Coronas (or Bud Light Lime, I used one of each - it's what I had)
(2) Frozen Limeade concentrates
(1) 2 liter Cherry 7-Up
Cruzan Black Cherry Rum

Directions:
Pour the Limeade and Coronas into a pitcher, add about half the 2 liter of Cherry 7-Up, add about half the bottle of rum. Taste. Add more rum. Taste. Add more rum. Continue until your pleased. Serve over ice in red solo cups. (Hello, it's Broke Girl Punch, don't go gettin all fancy with glassware)

It tastes like Cherry Limeade with a kick. Enjoy!

Mixer & Mingle Friday: The Chelsea

Every time we go to an all-inclusive resort I get delegated as the official mixologist. I guess when you work in the industry you don't even get a day off on vacation ;)

This trip I had everyone drinking this perfect beach cocktail that came to be known as The Chelsea
Simply mix Sprite and white rum, then add a splash of pineapple juice.

Enjoy!

And one last tidbit for your enjoyment:: a little slice of I'd Cap That (best app ever) fun from our trip::

Mixer & Mingle Friday: Pab Me

A while back, somewhere in the middle of a post I threw in some comment about using PBR as a mixer. And suddenly no one cared about any of the other SUPERIMPORTANT things I said, and only wanted to know more.

It's cool, I'm not mad. 'MERICA.

I don't really have specific recipes for yah, but I can share what are favorite go-to's are!

It all started when I was drinking a Dailys Strawberry pouch and it was just way too sweet for the 90 degree day. I searched our cooler for something to dilute it, and came up empty handed save for a few PBR's. Whatever, I thought, it couldn't make it any worse!

Truth: it made it SO much better!

A few weekends after that we were out boating one sunny day and I was beer'ed out. I grabbed the bottle of Pinnacle Orange Whipped and added some into my beer.

Hello, genius.

Pabst Red Ribbon
1 Dailys Frozen Strawberry Daiquiri pouch
+ 1 can of PBR

Hillbilly Blue Moon
1 can of PBR
+ 1 (or 2) shots of Pinnacle Orange Whipped

White Trash Sangria
1 Daily's Peach Daiquiri Pouch
+ 1 can of PBR (also really good with Bud Light Lime)

PB-Arrrrr Pirate Punch
A glass of someone else's rum punch
+ 1 can of PBR

I like to call it the Sprite effect. It really loses any 'beer' flavor when you add other alcohol to it. It's honestly becoming a favorite mixer.

And if that's not classy, I don't know what is.
(I wrote about some other brewtails last summer - you can check those out here!)

*Also, drink responsibly. beer + liquor could get ugly real quick. Don't be dumb.

Mixer & Mingle Fridays : Tag Alongs

Summertime means picnics, cookouts, pool parties, baseball games, and all around patio drinking. You know what goes well with all of those events... libations!

Let's raise our hands if we enjoy lugging 4 different bottles to our neighbors house just to make a round of cocktails...

Anyone? Anyone?

Didn't think so!

So, I'll let you in on a little secret - there are all sorts of delicious pre-mixed, ready-to-drink options. Wanna know some of my favorites?

You already know my love for the Dailys pouches. I rave about them all the time.

I'm a whiskey girl. I love my Jack & Coke. But these aluminum premix bottles make it SO easy to throw in the cooler!
How bout a little Jimmy in a can?!
Pink Lemonade + vodka in a tiny plastic bottle? Ok, pull my leg

And for all you SkinnyGirl loves - SkinnyMini's! Comes in a plastic bottle, is that not adorable.

Who says beer has to be your only tag along option!?

Mixer & Mingle Friday: the health conscious alcoholic

Ever since Loopy launched I have been all.about.it.

And not just because I'm in the industry. But because it's SERIOUSLY that good.

I already dedicated a whole post to it here, but I don't think you all listened to me.

Go try it - NOW.

It's been a week from hell here at work, as soon as I got home last night I needed a drink. I had some soy milk in the fridge, I had some Loopy on the bar. I set some candles, left them alone in the room, and let the magic happen.

The outcome? Amazing. UHmazing. Even better that Loopy & milk, or Loopy & half&half.

It took everything in me not to drink it for breakfast this morning. Added bonus: just think of all the bone-building calcium you're consuming!?

First Annual Tacky Easter Bash

I'm sure the neighbors were more than a little curious when they watched us up on ladders meticulously hanging pieces of crepe paper and then "testing it out" for a good hour Friday night.

I can only imagine their thoughts when cars started filling up my front yard Saturday evening, the drivers exiting with the most ridiculous outfits (I was elated when almost EVERYONE dressed up!). My cousin, Justin, easily took the cake for the 'best dressed' of the night.

I ended up with 20 some odd people at my house Saturday night - way more than I expected, but it was a blast! A lot of beer ponging, jello shooting and bon firing went down. I couldn't have asked for better weather. Except it got a little chilly later in the night (hence why everyone ditched their festive getups for hoodies and jeans) (Please notice: everyone posing with an Easter basket full of jello shots HA!)

I took this last photo of the garage before crawling into bed that night... I think it's safe to say the first annual Tacky Easter Bash was a success. See yah next year, bunnies!
