MiMO Monday - Ultimate Fan

There are two times in life when you are allowed to go all out Americana and not garner the stank eye- 1) when you are 7 and celebrating Independence Day 2) when you are cheering for the NY Giants.

I'm well past 7, but this weekend provided the perfect chance for me to wear my red and blue with pride! I won't go all Sporty Spice on you, but in my opinion the city of Indianapolis could not have asked for a better ending to our fairy tale Super Bowl week... and I'd like to think my color-coordinated attire gave them a bit of good luck Sunday evening!

When I woke up Sunday morning I saw my red skinnies lying on my closet floor and instantly knew they were going to be worn later that day! I decided to channel Shenae Grimes for the rest of my get up

And here's how I made it my own:

Red Skinny Jeans: Carson Pirie Scott
(Also seen here)
White Tankl: Old Navy
Grey Top: TJMaxx

I thought it was a pretty fun little get-up. Plus it provided optimum comfort level for excessive eating and/or cheering ;)

What did you make your own this week?!

Don't forget to go check out Holly's outfit as well!

MiMO Monday

No, Holly and I haven't been wandering around in frumpy sweats, the holidays just got in the way but have no fear -- MiMO Mondays are back!!

It's no secret around here that I love my jean jackets. Yes, jacketS plural. I have atleast 4 variations of the Canadian Tuxedo in my closet. Snicker all you want, but they are an American classic!

They're one of my favorite pieces to throw on over a sundress in the summertime, but I have been trying to branch out and bring them into other seasons as well. Here was my inspiration outfit:

And here's how I made it my own:

I loved the way it gave this simple outfit a little bit of cozy, classic cuteness!

Black Skinnies: LC Lauren Conrad (Kohls)
Striped Thermal: Old Navy
Jean Jacket: Gap (waaay old, like middle school!)
Plaid Scarf: Gift
Teal Watch: MK
Boots: Crown Vintage, from DSW

Now, I wanna see what outfit you made your own this week! Link up below and then check out Holly and everyone else's MiMOS!

MiMO - fur

Wanna hear about the time I unknowingly wore my MiMO outfit the day we were having our work Christmas luncheon. I garnered some head turns that day for sure. Whoops.

Here were my two inspiration outfits.....

I had scooped up a fur vest from the little girls section at Target a few weeks ago and finally mustered up the courage to rock it. And my fake glasses. Then I had to go hang out with  some very non-fashion forward folks at our luncheon. I got a lot of looks... and Flintstones jokes... and was even petted a few times...

Brown Tunic: NY&Co (also worn here)
Fur vest: Target (little girls section)
Belt & Glasses: F21

But I thought it was awfully fun! So whatev... I'll just remember next time to wear it to dinner or something instead of work!

Wanna play along? Just post an outfit you rocked that was inspired by Pinterest and link-up below!
And, as always, don't forget to check out my partner-in-crime, Holly's, outfit!
(And a PSA - link-ups are for people PLAYING ALONG... don't add your link if you aren't. I'll just delete it)

Merry last-Monday-til-Christmas!

MiMO Monday

Morning lovelies! Another week closer to Christmas and we still haven't had any major snow in Indy... so rare! I'm not complaining though!

Ready for another week of MiMO with Holly and I??

My MiMO outfit for this week was actually something I donned on a date. It was a mash-up inspired by these two different outfits...
Source: lookbook.nu via Becky on Pinterest

and

I loved the striped shirt + skinnies + boots from the second look but wanted somethin more bohemian and not quite so rocker (hence where the first picture came in)

Here's how I made it my own:

Whitney bet me that I couldn't get those super-flared jeans into boots, but I did it. Possibly one of my proudest accomplishments. Kidding. sort of.

Oh you wanna see something funny... I was teasing my hair and it got a bit out of hand, a la Everybody Loves Mary.
 Striped tank: Forever21 (Similar)
Cardigan: AE (it was on clearance for like $12!)
Necklace:Charlotte Russe
Watch: MK
Coral bracelet: from Jamaica

I've heard a lot of people say "well I don't have ____ or _____ so I can't recreate that outfit!" I've noticed I find inspiration by the whole 'vibe' of a look, by the color scheme, or by the 'shapes/style' of the clothing that I see someone wearing. Branch out a bit, it's crazy what you can create!

Did you rock a Pinterest-inspired outfit this week? Add your link below, we wanna see your twist! *Make sure the link you add is TO YOUR MIMO post. Not to your blog in general. If you don't play fair, I WILL delete you from the linkup.*

MiMO Monday

Ready for another MiMO Monday?? Did you take a Pinterest-inspired outfit and "Make it your own" this week? If so, link up below and join in on the fun!

If you remember from last week, Holly and I decided to open MiMO to ANY outfit that inspired you, not just the one we picked to recreate.

This week, I was finally able to end my quest for red jeans. My mom surprised me with a pair she had picked up while day-after-Thanksgiving shopping, and I deemed Saturday as the perfect day to bust them out (and boy was that day a bust... but I'll save that story for another post!)

Here was the outfit I had pinned forever ago that initially started this obsession with red jeans. Simple, yet awesome!

And here is how I made it my own:
Black LS tee: Target
Red Skinny Jeans: Carson Pirie Scott
Scarf:gift
Brown Boots: Steve Madden
Glasses: Forever21
Watch: MK

I honestly am not sure what freaked people out more... my stop sign red pants or the fact that I was mixing brown with black (gasp)
Dear Santa: Please bring me a full length mirror for Christmas?!

So... what'd you  make your own this week? Share here!

(We keep the link-up open all week, so feel free to post your outfit later on and add your link then!)

MiMO Monday

Another new week, another new Pinterest-inspired outfit challenge! Last week I was a slacker and didn't play... but Holly slapped my hand and I made sure to not forget this week!

Last week's Mimo outfit:

Source: tumblr.com via Holly on Pinterest

How I made it my own:
So... the whole scarf tucked in thing. I can't do it. I just can't. All I think of when I try is those people who accidentally tuck their dress into their underwear

White Tunic: Old Navy
Skinny Jeans: LC Lauren Konrad (Kohls)
Scarf:Honestly, no idea. TJ Maxx probably
Grey Boots: Elle (Kohls)
Watch: Michael Kors
Boots: Elle (from Kohls)

I waited til today to wear this outfit... because I knew the slouchy shirt would be PERFECT for the Monday after Thanksgiving! (Anyone else still suffering a turkey hangover??)

Did you Make It Your Own last week? If so, add your link below! I can't wait to all of your interpretations of this boho chic look.... and don't forget to check out Holly's version too!

MiMO Monday

Another new week, another new Pinterest-inspired outfit challenge!

Last week's Mimo outfit:

How I made it my own:

Brown Tunic: NY&Co
Black leggings: Mossimo (Target)
Striped Cardigan: Francesca's
Grey Boots: Elle (Kohls)
Necklace: Lia Sophia

I'm so not a skirt girl... so I opted for a longer tunic instead that had the same style pockets and fabric.

Make it My Own Monday & exciting news

Morning all!
Holly and I picked out a pretty sassy little outfit for last week's MiMO Challenge

THIS very outfit, which I pinned a few months ago, was the dang reason for my wild goose chase, aka the great grey boot hunt of 2011.

However, I'd like to think it paid off!

I turned this very boring bit of cotton essentials....
Into this super cute (and awfully comfy) outfit!

If we're being honest... that grey dress is what I typically throw on in the summer as a swimsuit cover up.

I also belted my blazer, added the plaid scarf and some wrist bling to kick it up a notch.

Grey Dress: Forever21 (few years old)
Black leggings: Target
Blazer: Charlotte Russe (few years old)
Boots: Elle (from Kohls)
Scarf: Forever21(few years old)
Belt:NY&Co (few years old)
Watch: Michael Kors
Daughter Bracelet: Brighton (gift from my momma)
Silver Bracelet: ForLove21

And also some exciting news....
We have had such rave reviews about our MiMO Mondays that Holly & I have decided to make it a link-up for anyone else who wants to join in on the challenge and Make it Their Own!

Your mission:
Take this outfit and Make It Your Own at some point this week...

Then come back to either Holly or I's blog next Monday to see how we made it our own, and then add a link to your post showing us your twist on it too!

We're really excited to see everyone's unique versions on the outfits every week!

Make it my Own Mondays

It's MiMO day!!
Last week you got to see Holly & I's first foray into Making it My Own... our little challenge to take Pinned outfits and, well, make 'em our own!

This week Holly picked out a super casual look for us involving stripes.
I. Love. Stripes.
So clearly, I was pumped for a chance to recreate this outfit!

This past weeks' inspiration outfit:

And here's how I made it my own:
I switched up the colors a bit but stuck with the same pieces, swapping out the black jeans for a distressed pair and the tan sweater for an olive green one.

I struggle with NOT wearing a scarf once the weather cools down. I seriously incorporate them into my outfit everyday. I think I may need therapy.

  Green Sweater: Target (SO SOFT!)
Grey Striped Tee: American Eagle (super old)
Skinny Jeans: American Eagle
Boots: Madden Girl (DSW)
Scarf: gift
Watch: Michael Kors

I tried the tall boot socks that peek out the top... but uh they weren't very flattering. I'm sorta bummed because I love that look! I think maybe I need to cheat and get the boot-toppers, because the super tall socks just looked awkward.

I spent most of my Saturday running errands and baking goodies for the Halloween Party, so this outfit was perfect! I'm loving that it's just as comfy to wear something like this as it is to wear a slouchy hoodie, jeans & tennis shoes.

Make it my Own Mondays

Oh Pinterest.

Sometime last week Holly over at Running in Stilettos & I got to chatting about how we have pinned a million and one outfits (give or take a few) and it was time we actually started using them for inspiration instead of just letting those pins sit pretty on our respective boards.

So we decided to offer up a challenge of sorts to each other. Each week we are going to pick one outfit that one of us has pinned, recreate it at some point during the week, and then post our 'versions' on Mondays.

Just a fun little game to force us to wear things in ways we may not have normally thought of, remix our wardrobe a bit... and we figured we would share it with you all on here!

Without further ado, I present to you this past weeks' inspiration outfit:

And here's how I made it my own:
I went with a punchier color pallet, we had a really sunny weekend and it seemed more fitting! I made it my own with a striped pink button down, pink stone necklace & a purple belt.

Making it my own - week 1
The popped collar made me giggle when I was getting dressed
And the reason why I love these boots - they tie!

Gray Sweater: JCPenny's (old)
Pink Button Down: American Eagle
Skinny Jeans: Paige
Boots: Steve Madden
Necklace: Buckle
Belt: Old Navy

So, what do you think? Would you rock this look? I don't wear button downs under sweater's too often... honestly I feel like Ellen when I do, but this outfit was a lot more feminine! I actually really liked it, I think adding the belt made a huge difference too.
