Legit questions & concerns

Frequently, when I'm home alone and bored, I shove shiz up my nose and watch it come out the other side.

True story.

Calm down, I'm not talking spaghetti or any of those other unidentified objects the weirdo at the elementary school lunch table used to leave dangling from his nostril.

I'm simply talking about the neti pot. I inherited ridiculous sinus issues compliments of my dad (thanks papa!) and am frankly too stubborn to take a daily pill or nasal spray. Meh.
Side note - have you every had to do a nasal spray? Talk about worst apprehension ever... it didn't matter how many times I had done it before, I was still like a scared puppy wincing in anticipation before that first squirt. Yuck.

Neti pot, anyways. Totally fun. The best is when someone who has never used one before catches you doing it and they stand in the doorway wide-eyed and completely freaked out. I always try to talk everyone into trying it. Probably not sanitary, huh?

Did I mention this post was inspired by my half-baked friend, Erica, as we were discussing her quest to be allergy free during pregnancy. Half-baked meaning a little bit pregnant, not like stoner style. Or the ice cream. She's 15 weeks, she blogs.

So we are trying to figure out who in the world came up with the concept of the neti pot?? Was it the weirdo from the lunch table? If so, he's totally that geeky kid that now makes millions selling little plastic teapots and I'm sure has Playboy bunnies hanging all over him 24/7.

But the bigger concern - how many other liquids were attempted before they settled on the saline solution? I would have hated to be part of that medical research study. Oy vey.

I use it although not religiously like I should since I have allergies and post nasal drip issues. I still find it weird to use sometimes lol. NEVER use it when your nose is stuffy...it goes right into your mouth! GROSS!

My husband LOVES his neti pot - like would marry it if he could - haha! However, I'm terrified of it! I would probably drown myself or something! When I watch him (of course he's a pro) I get entranced and think it would be okay to try and then I remember I'm not that great of a swimmer!

Yeahhhh that first sentence I was thinking nose plugs or...drugs...the illegal kind. I was like woahhh, girl needs to go to rehab. But she says nooo nooo nooo.

Er. Sorry. I have never tried the neti pot. Sounds like I will need to now. I'm sure if you googled it you could find lots of info and answers to these legit questions. ;)

I LOVE MY NETI POT! It seriously saves the day for me, and ur right the strange look people give you when they see you do it is like 'ughhh gross!' Someone once tried to tell me it was bad for you because some guy got a brain parasite from it... I looked at them and said.. obviously he didn't use distilled water like he was supposed to!

Okay so when I first started reading this post I was like WTF?!

But yeah the neti-pot, I am totally grossed out by it. I can't imagine putting something through my nose and letting it come out the other side, makes me queezy just thinking about it! Glad it works for you though ha!

Does the Neti pot really work. I remember Oprah feautured it years ago, but I have never tried it. It sounds like it would be perfect for clearing out allergies or colds.

I've heard of them but didn't know that you had to like shove it up your nose. For some reason I just assumed it was something you breathed in! LOL I had to google image what the process was. Gross! LOLOL

I love mine, but can only use it part of the time! My doctor told me to never use it if I have any kind of ear pain or pressure, which comes along with my sinus issues! I always try to convert people over to using it too!

I have never tried a neti pot, but I'm curious to see if it actually works. I wouldn't take much convincing. Allergies and stuffy noses are miserable.

Yea neti-pot seriously grosses me out. I have terrible allergies and I swear by nasal spray even though I do the scared puppy wince right before every time as well!
