Describe your weaknesses

Does anyone else compare preparing to an interview with studying for a big exam? It's like... I already know the standard questions that will probably get asked, now to just prepare my answers for them!

What is the weirdest interview question you've ever had?
How about the "Which animal do you think you relate best to?" I mean... really?! How the heck do you answer that one?!

"Well, sir, I find myself pretty well aligned with a gazelle. I just keep running and running praying that I don't get eaten alive today."

Any interview tips/good answers you want to throw my way - please do, I welcome them with open arms. I already know I'm going to have this on my mind all. day. long.

The job situation

Well, after a good sprucing up of the ol' resume and some left brain/right brain debating, I decided to go for it and apply for the job Mr. Higher Up informed me of on Thursday.

I have been talking a lot lately with Chris and my parents, and venting to my Las Vegan about how stuck I felt down here in the design department. There's only two of us in the "department". Before my boss/supervisor was hired the company outsourced all their design work. Then he came along, and 3 months later I joined the team.

We have enough work to keep the two of us busy. But I don't see our department growing any in the near future. So you can see where this is going... Unless he decides to jump ship, my pretty little tush ain't goin nowhere!

In addition to the lack of possibilities of advancement, I'm just plain getting sick of staring at a computer 40 hours a week! I think it's a bit of a culprit on the headache situation too.

ANYWAYS, I sent over my resume and landed myself an interview on Tuesday morning.

And then I began panicking.

The new position will have me out in the field selling booze directly to the bars/restaurants, working on how to promote the products, and planning promo's & parties. I'm excited at the possibilities, but I keep lingering on the nagging thought that I'm unqualified. Then I keep reminding myself that the guy (he is the head of sales dept) who will be interviewing me SENT ME the email saying I should apply, obviously he feels like I could handle it!

I love the fact that I will be able to earn commission and incentives (trips to distilleries, $$, televisions, I've even seen people get jet ski's and new cars!). Plus I'm pretty sure the base pay is more than what I'm currently making! I love that I will be out in the market instead of sitting in a windowless office. And I love that there will actually be plenty of avenues to advance.

I hate that I'm interviewing with two people I know in the company. One is the girl who had the position I would be taking over (she got a promotion) and the other is the VP of the sales division. I keep thinking I'm going to make a fool of myself, and then I'll still have to see them around here!

Hey they say you should only regret the chances you didn't take, right... so I'm goin for it!

Early morning inspiration

(While I was typing that title, I put "early mormon inspiration". While it made me giggle, the LDS had no part in this post.)

I woke up at 4:34 this morning with an outfit in mind. Honest. Wide awake, vivid as a picture in my mind. (Am I the only person this happens to?!)

Thankfully, I fell back asleep and was able to execute said outfit at a slightly later hour.



(don't mind the flippy-doo, my hair hadn't had it's morning rendezvous with the flat iron yet!)

I am quite content. Way to go Chelsea's dreams! Nothing better than a good outfit day on a Friday!

I'm obsessed with those boots lately... I wear my OTK boots at least three times a week! Do you have any? My black ones are from Aldo, and my brown ones (seen here) are Steve Madden. Highly recommend both!

Good/Bad/Ugly

I've got a lot on the brain so I'm linking up with my fellow Hoosier, Aly, for a post chocked full of Good - Bad - and UGLY!

[The Good] My work was shutdown yesterday because of weather, so I got a snowday!
[The Bad] If I'm not at work, I don't get paid
[The Ugly] I either have to use a sick day or a personal day yesterday, or not get paid.

[The Good] Russell and I stayed at my parents last night for fear of power outtages
[The Bad] Russell is a runner - so I have to take him out on a leash anytime he goes out
[The Ugly] I may or may not have fell on my rear end a few times due to the solid sheet of ice that is their backyard

[The Good] I received an email from a higher-up at my company telling me about a job opening that was just posted, asking if I would be interested
[The Bad] It's in a completely different area of the company than what I do now
[The Ugly] I'm worried that I'm not qualified for it (but then again, apparently he thinks I am since he sent me an email about it!) *I think I need a whole post just to discuss this, perhaps that will come later today*

[The Good] Cammie, whom I bought a year and a half ago, is nearly 2/3 paid off
[The Bad] I still have that last 1/3rd to go
[The Ugly] The car that I had before I bought Cammie only had like $4000 before it was paid off!

[The Good] I started painting my CL frames last weekend
[The Bad] I didn't sand or primer
[The Ugly] I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to start over... the 3 that I worked on aren't looking so hot


[The Good] Girls night Saturday night to go have some delicious food/sangria, and then bring out our inner ar-tiste at a Wine & Canvas class
[The Bad] The class filled up and is now sold out
[The Ugly] A few ladies who were going to join, but slacked off, won't be able to come with the rest of us now!

Eh I think that's all I've got for now! What are you G.B.U's for today?!

I think catastrophe may have been a bit of an over-exaggeration.

Then again, at some point in the past 5 years Indy weathermen decided that any bit of snow in the forecast was to be titled a WINTER STORM and the minions of the city were to heed their warnings and STAY INDOORS.

When in reality all we Hoosiers hear is "it's gonna snow, put it in 4wd and get over it".

Needless to say... I'm at work. Yes it's a solid sheet of ice out there... but it's not slick. It feels like a basketball. And yes, there's a ROUND 2 OF THE CATASTROPHIC ICE STORM due to hit us around noon.

Meh.

Atleast if I go home early to BEAT THE WINTER STORM I can spray paint my frames start sanding down that dresser I bought hang curtains admire this glory of a jacket I found on the clearance aisle at TJ Maxx.It's for this very reason, and this reason only, that I am anticipating December of 2011.
