Top 2 Tuesday : Favorite Books

I have been MIA from the T2T scene the past few weeks, apologies! I just wasn't feeling up for it. But I'm back, and just in time for one of my favorite things to talk about... books!




I had a hard time narrowing it down to just two! My go-to books are always chick flicks, but as I was thinking back to the books I really really could-not-put-it-down-and-continued-to-think-about-it-after-I-finished books, these two definitely filled that category!

1) Deception Point by Dan Brown

This book, along with all of Dan Brown's other books, had me absolutely intrigued. I loved the mystery with the twinge of conspiracy and of course a little bit of a love story.

2. The Beach by Alex Garland

I had never seen the movie (yea, the one with Leo DiCaprio) until after I had finished the book. I'm really glad. If I had seen the movie I probably would have never even considering reading the book because the movie just sucked in comparison! Travel, suspense, a great beach... I loved it. LOVED it!

And a close runner-up taking third place:

I am Not Myself These Days by Josh Kilmer-Purcell

An autobiography, written by a man who was a drag queen, one of the few books that has actually made me laugh out loud while reading it. I picked this out because of the cover, true story, but it is a FANTASTIC book. He tells so many funny stories, you can't help but feel for him!

Everyone maybe worth knowing

On our trip back from Kentucky, I started reading a book I had picked up a few months ago, Everyone Worth Knowing by Lauren Weisberger.

Let me go ahead and throw it out there that I'm a speed reader. I had 3/4 of the book done in about 4 hours... and I LOVED it. I was totally into the book, wanted the characters to be real life best friends, you know all that good stuff. With that being said, once I got back I didn't have as much free time and didn't get to finish the book until last night.

Maybe it's just me, but honestly I was a little bit disappointed. I was hooked on the book, but the last like two chapters just kinda let me down. I feel like lots of details were left out and the end was hurried. Has anyone else read this? Did you have the same feeling?

All in all, I would totally recommend this book, it's a great chick lit beach read and that's exactly what I was looking for! I absolutely loved the author's other book, Chasing Harry Winston, and adore the movie The Devil Wears Prada (although I haven't read the book). I can definitely see the similarities between DWPrada and Everyone Worth Knowing though, they seem to have very similar main characters!

Next up I'm going to move along to something recommended by you guys!

Girl I'm checkin you out like a library book....

I'm a total bookworm. Ever since I was young, I could go to the library and pick out a handful only to have them read within a week. Honestly, I read so fast that when I go on vacation I usually have to take 4 or 5 books to keep me entertained while I'm laying out! (And yes, it does make for a heavy suitcase)

That being said, I've been in the mood for a good chick lit lately.... nothing too serious or sad, something fun and girly and an easy read...

I need some recommendations please! These are some that I've read and enjoyed in the past

I've read almost all of Emily Giffin's books, a handful of Sophie Kinsella, and a few Jen Lanscaster and a few others here and there that I find appealing covers on. Yes, I definitely pick out books by their cover... with cheesy, loveydovey chick lit you can't really go TOO wrong! I plowed through Gossip Girl series when I was in about high school, and have also taken on A-Listers series and The Au Pairs series.
So please help! What are some of your favorites?? With the weather warming up I long to sit on my porch with a big ol glass of sweet tea & a good book!
