Friday afternoon Chris & I packed up and headed south. He is originally from Louisville, and still has family down there so we decided to make a little weekend trip to go visit!

While I've been down there a handful of times in the 19ish months Chris & I have been together, it was still fun to let him show me around the city and see some of his friends!

Our weekend was full of good food, cute shopping, fun family, great friends and even fireworks!

Once we got back to Indy Saturday night we hit up a local festival at a church, and although we had to duck for cover from pouring rain every 30 minutes we had a good time!

And since we had already ate our weight in fried food this weekend we decided to finish it off with a trip to our county fair - an order of fried pickles, a ribeye sandwich, an Italian sausage, and one walking taco later we wobbled our way through the cow barns, pet nearly every sheep and even watched a baby chick trying to come out of it's egg shell.

It's weekends like this that I love - spending a ton of time with my mister, eating delicious food with great company! I wish I would have taken more pictures, but oh well!

Mixer & Mingle Fridays : Dirty Banana's

We're down to the 6 week mark on the countdown until Jamaica! In honor of this milestone I'm featuring one of my FAVORITE warm weather cocktails, a dirty banana! 

This one is served at a lot of resorts in Jamaica and once you try one you will know why! It can best be described as the love child of a banana milkshake and a mudslide. Believe me... we drank our fair share of these - even ordered so many the bar gave us a serving tray one night! As soon as we were back in the states we KNEW we had to find the recipe!

Warning - you will need a blender. And this makes more than one drink, it makes atleast 2-4 depending on the size of your glasses!

DIRTY BANANA'S
1 ounce Kahlua
1 ounce rum cream*
2 ounces milk
1/2 ounce simple syrup (a mixture of 1/2 water and 1/2 sugar that is simmered until sugar is dissolved)
1/2 banana
1 cup ice

Simply combine all the ingredients in a blender and go to town - you really can't mess up this recipe, we sort of "wing it" every time - make double batches, add more banana, more liquor, whatever! 

*We prefer to use Cruzan Rum Cream, in Jamaica they use Sangsters but we haven't been able to find that up here. You may have to hit up a couple liquor stores before you find it but believe me it's worth it!  

(If you are sittin there thinkin 'what the heck is rum cream', it's the same idea as Baileys, except instead of an Irish Whiskey blended with Irish Cream, it's a Rum blended with Irish Cream... it's REALLY good, like even by itself on ice!)

The one about the driver's ed incident

This week I'm dedicating Thoughtless Thursday to a thoughtless little 16 year old.

Last week, Chris had gone to the BMV after work to get a new license (due to the placement of the holograph, EVERYONE thinks his says his year of birth is 1932 instead of 1982!) and renew his plates.

Shortly after I got home from work, I got a text from him saying "my car just got hit in the bmv parking lot by a girl taking her driving test" accompanied with this picture

After a few "shut up seriously..."s (I mean c'mon what are the chances!?) I said what any concerned girlfriend would say.... "Well, I hope they didn't pass her!"

So as the story goes, Chris was just finished up and walking out to his car, he saw the girl park and she was awfully close to his car, so she began to back up to correct her parking job. She cut the wheel a LITTLE too tight, and Chris watched the Driver's Ed Instructor screaming "STOP! STOP!" however, little miss super sweet 16 apparently chose to ignore her advice and CRUNCH, poor Kit (yes, Chris' car got a name courtesy of moi) got a nice, fairly deep scratch across both doors on the driver's side.

But get this... the girl said NOTHING to Chris. Not a word. She didn't apologize, she hardly even acknowledged she did something wrong! I don't know about you, but if that was me I would have been bawling and apologizing profusely!

I guess the cop really ripped into her, not to mention the instructor let her have it. Poor girl, her insurance rates are going up and she doesn't even have a learner's permit in her possession anymore!

Do you Kaboodle?

I discovered Kaboodle a few years ago. (It's Kaboodle with a 'K', not to be confused with Caboodle, the plastic cases we wielded as children full of Barbie makeup and friendship bracelets!)

Aside from being incredibly fun to say, it's also a super useful site for internet-shopping-basket-filler-uppers-but-never-click-purchasers such as myself. I may be alone, but half the time I add something to a shopping cart just because I like it, even though I can't/don't want to/shouldn't purchase it right then. That's all fine and dandy except then you have to create a log-in for that particular site and remember your password in 2 weeks when you've found enough quarters in the laundry to click BUY. And, well friends, I'm just not that dedicated/organized.

That's where Kaboodle comes in, you simply sign-up for an account there and then add the "Add To Kaboodle" button to your web browser favorites.

(Don't worry, they give you really simple instructions and it's super easy to get all set-up!)

Then when you're on Steve Madden's site and see shoes that you NEED for a wedding next month, just click your "Add to Kaboodle" button.
I'm sure in no time you will have multiple pages of goodies like I do!

You can create multiple lists (I even "Add to Kaboodle" certain sites I like, if I want to remember a specific travel site or something for example) and check out what everyone else is Kaboodling too. I am not getting reimbursed or anything, I just love this site and thought I would share it with you all!

As an added bonus, it has an extra space when you are "adding" something where you can insert what size/color you want, update the description and price! It ends up looking like this

PS I use this for birthday and Christmas lists every year - you can send out a link in an email and it makes shopping incredibly easy for your loved ones, plus you will get what you want instead of another ugly sweater!
I imagine it would work really well as a shower/wedding registry also, it has a place where you can insert a number requested, and I think how many have been purchased.

Is it wrong to want to buy a house asap so I can adorn it with a set of these

insanely fun ceramic house numbers from Anthropologie?!
