Sneaky

I love sneaking random surprises into my friends lives.... sometimes it's not so easy to surprise mister ChrisChris though. He just knows me too well and can tell when I am up to something!!
I pulled one over on him yesterday though! A few weeks ago we were at the Lucky store and he was eyeing these t-shirts they had but they didn't have his size so he just kinda moved on and forgot about it.

Last week, I got on their site and ordered them online and had them shipped straight to his condo. I got a text from him with this picture yesterday about 2 in the afternoon...

It couldn't have come on a more perfect day either - he had a rotten start, with a no-call-back from an interview and a condo-situation (story for another post) weighing heavy on his mind.

I just love sending completely unexpected things to those I love! Whether it be random flowers to my mom or a friend, a surprise gift card to congratulate on a new home or whatever.

What has been your favorite random gift that you've recieved? What about something that you sent?

Every once in a blue moon ChrisChris will be waiting at my work when I get off, with an iced coffee in hand. I know it's not a huge elaborate gift or surprise but it makes me happy when I walk out of my office and see him! Like I always say, I'm a pretty lucky lil lady!

I've learned...

About a year ago, I actually started writing on my blog. Yep, you can see my first post here if you'd like!
So here we are 12 months, 177 posts and 108 109 followers later and WOW I've learned a lot!

I've learned that when one of my invisible friends hurts, I hurt. Whether it's because of a deployment, disaster, a breakup or the loss of a loved on....

I've learned that when one of my invisible friends is excited, I am excited for them too. Be it a blind date, an engagement, a new job, the list goes on....

I've learned that if something is bothering me, there's a good chance one of you has gone through it and can lend some advice...

I've learned that if I need a pick-me-up, blogger is the place to turn. One of you is bound to offer me kind words or say something to make me break into a smile....

I've learned that if I want straight-from-the-eyes-of-a-witness news, I turn to my Google Reader instead of the news, I've seen more in a weekend of blog posts about world events than I could ever hear on the news!

I've learned that even though I've never met 99% of you in real life, even though we've never exchanged a phone call or even text messages, and to be honest I probably wouldn't recognize your voice or your maybe even your face if we crossed paths.... I've learned that I care about you, and I feel like ya'll care about me too! And that's pretty cool....

Not trying to get all mushy gushy, just wanted to say thanks and I kinda like you guys!

Top 2 Tuesday : Top 2 Splurges

This week Taylor is using one of the topics I suggested - Top 2 Splurges- how fun! I pride myself on being a "saver" but believe me, I do have a handful of things I splurge on....
Myself, my Canadian bud Christina and Alicia at a local Jamaican bar

1. One of my favorite splurges is vacations. I don't want to sound like a spoiled brat, but for as long as I can remember I've been fortunate to go on atleast 1 vacation a year. I will gladly forfeit one $20 meal a week in order to save for a vacation (seriously, save $20 a week and you will have enough for a nice all-inclusive getaway!)
My dear friend Mandi and myself in Playa del Carmen (a few years back when gaucho's were in style!)

ChrisChris & I in St.Thomas - pardon my crazy hair, it was a bit breezy!

2. My other favorite splurge is denim. When I was younger I was a stick, and had the hardest time finding jeans to fit me. Now I've got some badonkadonk and covet a well-fitting pair of jeans! My favorites are Hudson, Seven for all Mankind and Paige Premium Denim.
I don't mind paying upwards of $150 for jeans because I definitely get my wear out of them! The way I figure it, I would rather spend $200 on a pair of jeans I love that I'll wear 20 times than $40 on a pair I will only wear once or twice!

My other close splurges are:
3. Good quality liquor, I work for a distributor so I've become a sort of liquor snob. When I'm out I don't want a drink made from well liquor I want brands that I enjoy!

4. Watches - love love love Michael Kors watches. I've been eyeing the new black ones!

5. Fabric of course - I love buying gorgeous fabrics that I get to turn into pretty little quilts!

What are your favorite splurges? Head over to Tay's blog and link up! I can't wait to see what everyone else has to say!

Check that one off!

We had a good weekend, even though it did fly by (but when don't they?!) It was forcasted that we would have rain and thunderstorms all weekend, but thankfully most of them missed us. Speaking of which, I cannot believe the devastation in Nashville that I've been seeing all over the news and blogs. Wow, please keep them in your thoughts and prayers!

Some of ChrisChris' family lives in Louisville so he's been keeping in touch with them making sure they're high and dry!

Friday night we went to the mall and got my sunglasses fixed. WOOHOO! I bought a pair of Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses last summer and within the past two months they got sort of bent and of course couldn't find the receipt. I've tried messing with the nose pieces and everything but I couldn't get them to sit right on my face.

Luckily the fabulous ladies at Solstice tweaked them for a good 20 minutes and finally got them back into shape. They're my hero's, I was sweatin bullets thinking I had ruined my first expensive pair of sunglasses! And of course, I found about 8 other pairs that I want! I used to be the cheapy sunglass girl, you know, the $4.80 pair from Forever 21. Until I decided to be a grown-up and get an expensive pair, low and behold I haven't lost and/or popped the lenses out of them yet!

Here's some other pretties I've been admiring - fun, bright colors for summer! (Was I the only one who didn't know T&Co had sunglasses?!)

Funny how you are more responsible when your eyewear is about the equivalent of a week's paycheck!
Do you have expensive sunglasses or do you like to buy the cheapies like I did. (PS I still enjoy cheapy sunglasses, I have a whole drawer full in my jewelry armoire... sometimes it's fun to mix it up!)

I'm not a derby gal

But if I had a horse in the derby I'd paint the bottom of his hooves red and name him Uncle Loubie ;)
