When the cats away...

My coworkers apparently were a little jealous that I took Friday off, extending my 3-day weekend into a 4-day.

Saturday afternoon I was perusing Facebook and came across this on my timeline.

Naturally, I cracked up then proceeded to forget about it because I was only halfway through my extended weekend and work was the last thing on my mind. Needless to say I remembered real quick as soon as I unlocked my office door this morning and saw the mess.

Payback is a betch...

Mullet.

Today I am rocking a mullet at work.

Not a real mullet. A fashion mullet.

See, I sit behind a desk... so I'm all business up top

and party on the bottom!

(white blazer from Charlotte Russe, striped tee from F21, red jeans from Carson Pirie Scott, blue heels are JessicaSimpson from a few years ago)

And the funnest* part is I'm all 'la ti da' professional  until I get up, then it's like KABAM.

Let's not even get into the party that's rockin on my wrist - whoa. Maximum capacity.
(love bracelet from F21, seashell bracelet from jamaica, lucky blue string, MK watch from cheating ex boyfriend, fake Yurman from F21, laramar bracelet from Punta Cana, leather bracelet from Punta Cana, Daughter bracelet from my mama)

Who's ready to rockNroll this Wednesday? We're halfway to the weekend pretty people!

(*Yes, I know "funnest" is not a word, but "most fun" sounds lame IMO)

the house of booze

Last week was a bit of a wild one.

My supervisor was let go from the company, and I was offered a new contract with some additional perks. In one fell swoop I went from underdog to running the show.

Today is my first day as the lone designer here at the house of booze. The next few weeks will prove a challenge as St. Patrick's Day is one of our biggest holidays, and I am going at it alone. However, I have no doubts that I can handle whatever gets thrown at me!

I am really excited to prove to my company that they made the right decision, but bear with me as I get transitioned as I may be a bit absent around the blog world for a little bit!

(If you follow me on twitter, this is old news, I apologize!)

Quick update

Apparently when your city is hosting the super bowl bar and restaurant owners KINDA want posters and banners and all that swag to hang up…. Hence why I’ve become practically nonexistent around these parts. Crazy busy work days coupled with the fun that’s been going on the past week and I just find blogging pushed to the backburner.

And for the latest update on Livy: the pathology results from the tumor came back – stage 2. Odds look good to beat this. She was released from the hospital Sunday evening and is back to her sassy little self. There are talks that her chemo will begin as soon as Friday or Monday.

So What Wednesday

It's my favorite blog day of the week!

So What Wednesday
Link up with Life After I "Dew" if you wanna dish too!

So what if we had the most perfect snow yesterday. It was those big fluffy flakes, and I just wanted to stand out in it and kiss someone. Yea, it was THAT kind of movie-scene snow! Clearly, that wish didn't come true, so I settled on chasing Russell around in it instead.

So what if I really wanted to watch the VS Fashion Show last night... which meant this delicate balancing act had to happen. What?! I don't watch TV much therefore can't justify actually paying for cable. (hangs head in shame. hillbilly deluxe)

So what if the highlight of my Thanksgiving was quite possibly the fact that my Japanese aunt showed up with fresh rolled sushi.

So what if these are the sort of shenanigans that go on at the house of booze. Apparently some new guy started, and he is all sorts of good looking (note: that is new guy's manager)

So what if I cringed when I saw this goin down across the street from my house. Those are inflatable lawn ornaments! Please no... why me?! Is there anything more tacky (and don't you dare bring up my tv antenna)

So what if I have my hair trained so I only have to wash it every 2 or 3 days. Some people don't believe me that you can train your hair. Ahhem, Lindsey.  Of course, day 2 or 3 always ends up as a messy bun.

So what if I took ALL of the above to an open house, and none of it sold... but I've since sold like half of it. Clearly, whoever attended said open house had no taste ;)

So what if I spruced up the look of the ol bliggityblog a bit. I was so bored of the way it looked but haven't had time to do a complete redesign

What are you saying So What to this week?

Ladies night!

Friday night a new restaurant/night club opened up in Indy and since I'm such a business-hearted gal, I decided to pop out with some lady friends for a little girls night out / support my company. ;)

After a good 20 minutes spent trying to tease my hair, I actually achieved some volume!
I had to send proof to my friend Jenn in Vegas, as we were 'getting ready together' via a series of picture messages, decided outfit choices and whatnot!

I even decided to rock my new-favorite accessory... the loopy-knotted belt.  I buy belts in way-too-big sizes just so I can do this!
Anyways, back to the story....

the best part about working for the house of booze... we are at nearly every event, usually with a VIP area and bottle service set up. It's always fun to go out for the evening and not have to spend a dime!

This place is super nice, a giant step up from the janky club that used to be in that location. We had fun enjoying the cocktails, hanging out with my ridiculous coworkers and people watching!

I haven't had a girls night out in quite a while, so it was much needed and much enjoyed! We didn't get down there until after 9 so we didn't have a chance to try the food, but I hear it's delicious too!

My friend Casey had brought her camera, so I will have to 'borrow' more of her pictures once she uploads them!

Describe your weaknesses

Does anyone else compare preparing to an interview with studying for a big exam? It's like... I already know the standard questions that will probably get asked, now to just prepare my answers for them!

  • Why should we hire you?
  • What are you passionate about?
  • What's your greatest strength?
  • What's your biggest weakness?
  • Describe a difficult situation at a job, and how you overcame it.

What is the weirdest interview question you've ever had?
How about the "Which animal do you think you relate best to?" I mean... really?! How the heck do you answer that one?!

"Well, sir, I find myself pretty well aligned with a gazelle. I just keep running and running praying that I don't get eaten alive today."

Any interview tips/good answers you want to throw my way - please do, I welcome them with open arms. I already know I'm going to have this on my mind all. day. long.

Mo'vember

This November the house of booze participated in Canadian Club Whisky's Mo'vember, a month-long charity campaign aimed to raise money and awareness for prostate cancer.

CC challenged "Mo Bro's" to start off November clean-shaven, and they had a month to grow the best mo' they could, while collecting donations along the way.

Our sales meeting last Friday was the close of the Mo'vember competition and WOW it was hilarious! I'd like to highlight a few of my favorites:
(This is the head of our HR department)

(Here's a sales rep, he even added a costume to complete his 'mo!)

(And this lovely mo' does a lot of our training in the office)

Did you know of anyone participating in Mo'vember? Apparently it's a countrywide thing, they've even got a Facebook page!

Mondays at casa de la booze

When you walk into work on a Monday morning and see this in the main hall....... I think it's safe to say it's going to be a good week!

A day in the life

Yesterday I walked out of my office to see this...

Here at the house of booze my office is right off the salesroom (see that white door in the second photo). This provides lots of entertainment, namely when sales meetings are going on (I get to hear about all the new flavors coming out and typically get to join in on sampling), but is also a little on the boring side when they have serious meetings and I'm not allowed to have my radio on and have to tiptoe around my office!

Of course, when there's a sales meeting going on (like right now) and there's a fly in my office (like right now) and said fly keeps landing on me (his preferred perch being my nose or my arm), I have two choices: to either
a) sit here and pretend I don't notice there's a fly on my nose or
b) swat at it, whilst all 80+ people can see me with arms flying like a maniac because my desk is in plain view from the door to the sales room.

Life is made up of hard decisions.

PS. Three Olives Purple tastes JUST like grape candy, as suspected. Mixed with lemonade it's rather tasty, even though I don't love grape flavored candy it was a fun summer drink. Oh, and it's purple in color which makes it WAY cool!
