Elenore's first holiday

I've owned my house, Elenore, since November 17th... I've lived in her since early January, and still most of my family (outside mom/dad/brother) hasn't even seen her!

That all needed to change, so I'm going to be having my mom's side of the family over for Easter this year!

I'm really excited to host my first big gathering! Lucky for me, all our family get togethers are usually pitch-in's so I won't be slaving over the stove all weekend or anything like that.

Which brings me to my next question... I have been flipping through cook books looks for some fun, easy(-ier) and tasty side dishes, appetizers or desserts that I can fix... any suggestions??
Send em my way!

Sounds like a lot of fun! Cute house by the way.

As for a dessert, what about a trifle? This Giada one sounds yummy...

and I've made this Emeril one and it was a huge hit!

Instead of the individual cups, I made one big trifle.

that will be so nice to have everyone over to your place for the holiday! I always love hosting things like that :)

A couple of SUPER easy appetizers that are really popular whenever I make them are a hoagie dip or a wasabi/cream cheese spread.. if you want recipes to either just let me know and I can send them! :)

The outside of your house is adorable. Since it's Easter I would make deviled eggs for appetizers.

Do you plan on cutting all that grass yourself?? Or will you hire someone?

I am a straight epic fail in the kitchen so no help there... SORRY ... But I just had to comment and say Elenore is a beauty! For reals. Love her and supa jelly!

Um, I'm in love with your house!! My mother usually hosts Easter in NH so I've never been one to cook for it...but I know the staples that we have...ham, mashed potatoes, asparagus...and lots of desserts. My sister makes a killer key lime pie (you know, cause its pastel and that kind of represents Spring;)

I make the world's easiest key lime pie

1/2 a cup of lime juice
2 egg yolks
1 can sweetened condensed milk

whisk that all together, throw it in a graham cracker crust (if I was ambitious, i'd make my own, but I use a store bought one). 350° for 15 minutes - then let cool completely before you put it in the fridge (or freezer!) to cool. I'm making one tonight for a co-workers goodbye party tomorrow! I love, love love key lime pie. you could also throw some freshly zezted lime peel into it if you were so inclined.

Elenor is SO pretty!!!

Well, you can never ever go wrong with dips! My favorite appetizer is basil/sun-dried tomato/cream cheese pinwheels. SO GOOD, SO EASY! Even my brothers eat them, and they are picky eaters!

Your house is SO cute! That's going to be so fun to have family over..and perfect holiday to do it! :)
This could be dessert, or a side dish, or the main course... you know, whatev. We've done it every way :)
Apple Snicker Salad (seriously...to.die.for.)
1 small box instant French Vanilla Pudding
1 cup Milk
8 oz Cool Whip
2-3 Granny Smith apples
1 pkg fun size snickers

Mix pudding and milk THEN add cool whip. Let chill in fridge (I usually stick it in freezer while I chop up apple's and snickers)
Add apples and snickers just before you serve!
Don't judge. Try it first :)
