Miscellany Monday

I feel like I have so much to share today! Thank goodness Carissa hosts Miscellany Mondays!

1. Bustin moves

My brother & sis-in-law bought one with giftcards from Christmas. i am SOOOO not a dancer... I refuse to dance, but I have become obsessed with Dance Central game, we have played it the past two weekends! I am addicted. It's so fun, and I have been getting like 4 stars on dances... maybe I CAN dance?!

2. Throwing clay

Chris & I went to a 'date night pottery class' Saturday night. It was so much fun! I took a lot of ceramics classes in high school, and being on the wheel again made me fall in love all over. Chris had a lot of fun too, I was hesitant as to whether he'd like it or not (it was a surprise date night I had planned for us). We talked to the guy who led the class about taking more!

3. Gettin crafty
I was finally able to make it to another Indy Modern Quilt Guild meeting on Saturday afternoon. I had a blast! I often complain that I have no good friends who are crafty and like sewing like me, so it's fun being around a group of ladies close in age that enjoy that kind of stuff just like me!
We made name tags! I am kinda in love with mine... is that weird? ha It felt so good to be around people who just want to make pretty things!


4. Payin the big man
I knocked out my taxes this weekend. I do my own, and was so scared that they would be super difficult now that I own a home. Nope, not the case! And I'm getting a nice little chunk o' change back. Yippee!


5. Relivin the memories
Sometimes when I'm bored (or on the toilet... what don't act like you don't facebook from the throne) I look through old vacation albums on facebook. There are so many hilarious photos and happy memories!

This one in particular had me cracking up. It was our first trip to Jamaica and my friend Casey and I participated in some sort of obstacle course/game? I ended up winning it for our team thanks to my immaculate hoola-hooping skills! (Sigh... i want to be that tan again! And have sand between my toes!)


6. Donating my time
I am attending an orientation tonight to become a volunteer for the Indianapolis Zoo. I'm really excited about it! I looove the zoo! I am not sure what exactly I would get to do, but I draw the line at picking up elephant poop.

7. Being the dirty kid
Just kidding! But really, my mom got me this scarf for Valentine's Day (yes we get Vday gifts... so what!)
I love it and want to wear it everyday!

Catastrophic Monday

I saw sunshine for 3 days straight this weekend! Granted, it was far from WARM and sunny... but it was sunny, and at this point I'll take whatever little glimpse of spring Mama Nature decides to dish out.

1) Chris and I had a nice little dinner date Friday night that we ended with some ice skating... me, being the professional, never fell. Chris, trying to show off, fell once. The dinner - meh. The date - smiles.

2) I had vowed to not let Russell on the couch. He's such a cuddler though, that that resolution lasted nearly 6 hours. 2a) Yes he does go by Russell now. The artist formerly known as Oro. He is actually listening when you say his name now instead of ignoring you and continuing to run rampant through out the house. Although when he's feeling frisky he responds only to Russello d'Oro (and you MUST roll the R)

2b) Russell got a haircut last week. Apparently the lady felt that he was a poodle/SCHNAUZER mix because he has a straight schnauzer haircut. I'm not really a fan. (Side note: we are pretty sure he is, however, indeed a schnauzer mix. When I vacuum and he goes NUTS barking... you can very clearly hear the schnauzy influence of his bark)

3) I popped into Goodwill on Saturday while I was running some errands. This is what I saw.
You already know what I'm going to say next.
I walked out with a dresser. Not literally walked out... fitting a dresser into my car - now THAT's a funny thought.
It has taken up residence in my craft room (that was empty up until this weekend). $24.99... how could I say no?! Solid wood too - that sucker is heavy. Missing a few pieces of hardware, but I've got ideas.

3a) Added bonus: mom and I discovered, while unloading it, that one drawer was still full of clothes (slightly odd, slightly humorous). And then, stuck back behind another drawer, I found a really old picture of two little boys on a swing that is HILARIOUS. I think I will frame it.

4) The weathermen are calling for a "CATASTROPHIC ICE STORM" tomorrow. Won't that mean we will all die? Catastrophic... huh... nice knowing ya'll.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that perhaps we'll get a strong wind and all that snow will come a little further south... I'd much rather have 12" of snow than 4" of ice. I do like the hot pink coloring though. It's like a little glimmer of fun before the CATASTROPHIC event.

Soo many things to write about so I'm joining in with Carissa and Miscellany Mondays! It was a great weekend, even though I was battling a head cold!

[one] ChrisChris got a promotion at work! He interviewed for the new position a few weeks ago, and just received official notice this morning that he was selected!

[two] I made Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cupcakes for tailgating yesterday using this recipe from Annie's Eats.I kind-of loved them, but the 'cookie dough' filling creeped me out... I don't like stuff in the middle of my cupcakes! I think I'll leave that out next time. I did try to 'pipe' the frosting on with a Ziploc baggie though, quite an upgrade from my spatula-smeared icing of the past.

[three] We celebrated my cousin's wife's birthday Saturday night. It was good to see everyone. I played beer pong for the first time in a while this weekend, I forgot how much fun that stupid game is! I was driving, so I let Chris drink my beer, I just did the 'shooting'! Good times, good times

[four] My aunt & uncle came over for dinner Friday night and I made two different kinds of pizza (check that off my 23-before-23 list!) I will share with you my recipes and feedback later in the week.

[five] Our boys in blue brought home another W yesterday! It wasn't pretty, but a win is a win! (Hehe that picture is a few years old, but I still love it! It's not everyday you run into a SuperBowl Champion quarterback downtown!)

[six] I'm on the hunt for a perfect pair of skinny jeans (for tucking into boots). Any opinions/suggestions are welcome! I bought a pair from Gap, but I can't say I'm crazy about them (they just don't fit me right...)

The Note (and other mischellany's)

I've decided to play along with Carissa (and the other 3/4 of my Reader posts!) and participate in Miscellany Monday this week. I've got a whole slew of things to blab about....

1. The weirdest thing happened this past week... we had a note in our mailbox from someone saying they "were very interested in buying our house." Are my parents ready to sell our house? If the price is right, heck yes! Once I move out they'll be two peas in a very big pod, and if someone is going out of their way to show interest we'll give it a shot! Needless to say we've been cleaning & organizing our butts off. Chris was amazing, he showed up bright & early Saturday morning to make a Goodwill run and powerwash the deck and front porch!

2. You all have convinced me to cut my hair! I'm waiting until after we get back from vacation though - adjusting to non-ponytail-accesible-short-hair whilst in the caribbean is not my idea of a good time!(Perhaps something to this effect... minus the blue streaks I had - those were Superbowl decorations!)

3. Speaking of caribbean... 4 more days of work! Woohoo!

4. We watched Alice & Wonderland last night - the new one. One word. WEIRD. Honestly, I was bored... I could have turned it off after the first 30 minutes and I wouldn't have been mad.

5. The reusable cups I ordered Thursday got here Friday - super impressed with the quick shipping! They are awesome, I called dibs on hot pink!
6. Whilst on the cleaning frenzy this weekend I had a near meltdown caused by the disappearance of my passport. Yep, 1 week from leaving the country and it was not located where it should have been located. Thank god I found it mixed in with some papers on my desk, had I lost it, I would have been applying for my 4th passport... but that's a story for another day.

7. The Indiana State Fair is coming to a close... I can't recall a year that I haven't gone to the fair at least one time. This year was no different... we had a great time with good people and delicious food!
8. Have you ever seen the site MthruF.com? Hilariousness. It's my go-to site when I get bored at work lately. It's full of silly work pranks and things I'm sure you can relate to if you work a 9-5 everyday!
