Let me refresh your brains by showing you the MLS listing photos from before the house was mine...
And what it looks like now, minus the old lady furniture, wallpaper, and plethora of faux blooms...
(Don't mind the extra curtain rods taking residence on the wall over there)

This chair has proven to be SO comfortable! |
And I found this antique soda crate at the antique mall last weekend... I fell in love with it and knew I had to bring it home with me! I love how the green lettering matches the curtains!
So... any suggestions for over-the-fireplace art/decor pieces?? I'm stumped! I believe there will be a mirror(s) of some sort going over the couch, so I need to come up with something other than a mirror for the fireplace!
Looks GREAT girl! You've done a wonderful job (your mom too ;)). The curtains look fabulous!!
ReplyDeleteHere's an idea (you can totally change it to match your room obv), google 'imperfectly beautiful plate wall.' Its a blog, she did a pottery barn knock off plate wall, its to die for! Email me if you can't find it and I'll send it to you!!
LOVE LOVE LOVE those curtains!!! The room looks so inviting and I love the color scheme. Unfortunately, I am horrible at coming up with decor ideas and usually have to conference in my sister (an interior designer/artist) for assistance.
ReplyDeleteKeep those photos coming!
Love the new look!! A great painting would be beautiful above the mantle, yah?
ReplyDeleteLOVEEE the curtains and chair! It's looking wonderful :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE THIS!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute crate! I have no patience for antiquing, but every time I see cute finds like that, I want to try again.
ReplyDeleteAh Chelsea! I Love love love your new pad!!
ReplyDeleteLooks great. I love how the curtains add a little pop of color!
ReplyDeleteLooks amazing- what a difference! Love that couch, I don't think I'd move from it!
ReplyDeleteI love it and love the "happy" curtains. It looks so much better than in the MLS listing. :)
ReplyDeleteWhoo! You go girl! It looks great! Love itttt!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! I am in love with your couch! What if you did a mirror over the fireplace and some type of gallery wall over the couch? Or if you keep the mirror over the couch, you could do a larger piece of art work over the mantle...isn't decorating so much fun?
ReplyDeleteLOVE IT!! It's looking so good! I wish I had remembered to save the MLS pictures from when we bought our house. :(
ReplyDeleteI think it looks great!!!! I love that you kept the chandelier too!!! Okay. So I'm no designer of course but I would say that if you're doing a large mirror behind the sofa then something simple over the fireplace would work. You could do four 12x12 canvas painting hung in a row or square pattern and paint each one a different color to tie in the curtain colors. Or you could do the same idea with 4 square canvas tiles, lay them together, draw a circle and paint the inside one color with the outside a different color. I've done this for my kitchen although I have yet to decide if I like the colors enough to hang it. Other than that browse Etsy. You're sure to find something there. XOXO
ReplyDeleteLove it Chelsea!
ReplyDeleteFunny how you completely transformed the room with just the furniture. I love the pop of color you have added. Can't wait to see the final pics.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great so far! Love how the curtains turned out! :)
ReplyDeleteIf you're doing a mirror over the couch I'd suggest maybe a fun big clock over the fireplace or an arrangement of pieces of canvas art or something. I can't wait to see what you come up with!
i'm loving it!! :) you're doing such a great job!
